Action taken against 2620 vehicles under Eagle Project

Mawlamyine 22 January

With a view to reducing causalities triggered by traffic accidents, the 100-day Eagle Project was launched in Mon State and action was taken against 2620 vehicles which were in breach of traffic rules in six days.

A press briefing on Eagle Project was held at Aung San Hall of the Mon State Government Office yesterday morning. At the press briefing, Minister of Security and Border Affairs Col Nay Htut Oo clarified about action being taken against vehicles, motorbikes and Htawlagyis.

He continued that the six day education period has seen public awareness campaigns in different regions, adding the number of injured has been on the decrease under the project but the number of dead is still on the rise.

Mon State Chief Minister Dr Aye Zan disclosed that the number of dead due to traffic accidents ranges from 350 to 400, suggesting that people are weak in following traffic rules, and therefore, action was inevitably taken against the rule-breakers.—District IPRD
