CBT to be opened in Indaung village

Arrangements are being made to open community based tourism in Indaung village, Wetlet Township, Shwebo District, Sagaing Region, according to U Aung Thu Oo, head of Hotels and Tourism Department in Sagaing Region.

The Sagaing region government allowed to open community based tourism in the village on 9 January.  The CBT is aimed at generating better income through cooperation between fishermen and members of CBT project for the village. Indaung village can be accessible via both waterway and land. Shainmaka Sanctuary in Wetlet Township is one of the tourist attractions for visitors who are in the village through the district-to-district road. Arrangements are being made for travelers to take a rest in the houses constructed by the CBT project in the village and they can view the dolphins in the river and enjoy food produced from the village at reasonable prices, he added. 

Under the guidance of the regional government and the regional Hotels and Tourism Department, the village CBT is jointly conducted by the CBT committee and the Wildlife Conservation Society.
