Children’s Literature Festival to be held on 20-22 Jan in Myitkyina

With the intention of nurturing children and instilling in them the love of reading, the Children’s Literature Festival, will be held from 20 to 22 January at the convocation hall of the Myitkyina University in Myitkyina, Kachin State.

 

The Children’s Literature Festival is jointly organised by the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Education and the Kachin State Government.

 

During the festival, many activities such as a story-telling competition, poem-reciting competitions, a painting competition, literature talks, talk shows, debates, sports activities and entertainment programmes will be included.
Colourful educational booths will also be organised by state high schools in Myitkyina.

 

Other interesting activities such as elephant dancing and puppet shows will be presented.

 

Book stalls for book lovers will be opened at the festival, said an official.

 

Likewise, several Children’s Literature festivals have been successfully held in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Mawlamyin, Taunggyi, Monywa, Pathein and Yangon.—Aung Min Han(Translated by Kyaw Zin Lin)
