School building handed over in Daik-U Township

An opening ceremony of a new two-story school building constructed as part of Japan-Myanmar friendship was convened at Basic Education High School, Thonekhwa village, this morning with speeches by Chief Minister U Win Thein, Pyithu Hluttaw representative U Phone Myint Aung and Deputy Director Daw May Thet New.

Chief Minister U Win Thein, MP U Phone Myint Aung, Township Education Officer Daw Htwe Htwe Yee and Third Secretary of Japan Embassy Ms. Atsuko Kusunsoe cut a ribbon to open the ceremony and inspected the school building.

Ms. Atsuko Kusunose handed over the school facility to the headmistress. Next, U Tin Saw from the school board of trustees presented a gift to Ms. Atsuko Kusunose.

The chief minister provided sports facilities for the school and K 150,000 for Pa-O ethnic youths and school band troupe.

The school was built by Gone Shan Kyar Co at a cost of K 199.2 million.

The ceremony was attended by officials from Japan embassy, Hluttaw representatives, staffs from education department and local residents. –Hein Htet (Bago)
