Chilli Pot in Junction Square

I heard that Chilli Pot’s new restaurant was open at Junction Square, I called my best friend and we sauntered on over to the food stall on the third floor with the excuse that we wanted to try eating different food from our normal boring diet.

The dining area was crowded when we arrived there. We had already planned to have Mala Xiang Guo, but we also ordered Sichuan style fried fish because we saw people from a nearby dining table tucking that one in.

Sea bass is the only fish available. The fish was fried to be crispy outside, but soft, succulent and tender inside. Then, the fish was cooked with Mala noodles, wood ear mushrooms, and beansprouts and mustard greens.  The dish was prepared by fire, so there was a light sauce and vegetables boiling in the dish. When the wick burns out, you can ask for more wicks to keep the food warm from the fire. Having the fish with the light is delicious. We could not stop eating both the fish and sauce alternately.

The dish goes for K 18,000 but it is a big portion and up to five people can enjoy it if you ordered Marla Xiang Guo together. Both of us were greedy and ordered these two dishes. So, we had to eat them slowly until we were finally stuffed.

If you want your food on the hot and spicy side, your food will be prepared that way.  If you  don’t tell the staff, your food will not be so spicy because the staff at Chilli Pot know most people in Myanmar do not like to eat super spicy and hot food. One thig I really love about Chilli Pot is that you can order veggies piece by piece. So, it is worth eating here if you know how much you can eat. Don’t forget to have sour plum juice after eating spicy Marla Xiang Guo. Seafood Mala, Fish Kyan Ma Sine, fruit juice is also available here.

You don’t need to wait a long time to get your food. We had to wait between 15 to 20 minutes and there were lots of customers. You can order food to takeaway also, but you can’t make reservations. If you don’t want to stand for a long time in a queue to weigh your veggies and food you plan to eat, you can wait at your table. The staff will weigh them for you when your turn comes. And, you don’t need to pay the bill right away, you can settle it after you finished your dining experience.
