THE opening ceremony of the BIMSTEC Youth Leaders Sum­mit 2025, hosted by the Bharat Scouts and Guides under the ae­gis of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, took place at the Mayfair Spring Valley Resort in Guwahati, India, yesterday.

 

Ten young Myanmar del­egates from the governmental departments, political parties, media and private sectors at­tended the opening ceremony of the summit.

 

The summit is hosted by the Bharat Scouts and Guides under the aegis of the Ministry of External Affairs at the Mayfair Valley Resort in Assam, Guwa­hati, India.

 

The event was attended by the Governor of Assam, the Chief National Commissioner of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, spe­cial invitees and the delegates of BEMSTIC countries.

 

The delegates from BIM­STEC nations – India, Bangla­desh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand – sang the national anthems and intro­duced themselves respectively.

 

After the ceremonial proce­dures, the Governor of Assam made a speech highlighting the role of BIMSTEC, as the real strength of the region lies in its youth. He also called upon the youths to engage actively in tackling global challenges such as climate change, natural dis­asters, and stated the position of leadership. The relevant Indian officials made speeches respec­tively.

 

The BIMSTEC delegates enjoyed the cultural perfor­mance of the Indian cultural dance troupe and had dinner together.

 

The summit, themed “Thrive-Igniting Youth Leader­ship and Entrepreneurship” will take place from 9-12 September. The objectives of the summit are to develop leadership activities, promote entrepreneurial mind­sets, support youth-led social impact projects, and connect young people to resources and mentors.

 

The experts and youth dele­gates will discuss and exchange views on the different topics such as The 21st Century Lead­er: Skills for a Fast-Changing World, Emotional Intelligence and Resilience Leading with Heart and Strength, Inclusive Leadership: Valuing Diversity and Building Teams, From Idea to Impact: The Entrepreneurial Journey, Lean Start up for First- Time Founders, Future of Work and Rise of Youth Entrepreneurs in South Asia, From Vision to Action during the event days. — KTZH
