ACCORDING to U Aye Win, a member of the Buddha Tooth Relic Trustee Committee, the 128th annu­al Buddha Tooth Relic Festival in Paungde Township, Bago Region, will be held with traditional customs and rituals preserved.

 

The sacred Buddha Tooth Relic, which is enshrined in a glass cas­ket within the Gandakuti Golden Monastery of Cikalamuni Moekaung Pagoda in Paungde Township, will be venerated over three days from the 13th to the 15th waxing days of the month of Tawthalin (4 to 6 Sep­tember), as is customary each year.

 

The enshrined Buddha Tooth Relic in Paungde is also a revered relic that was once jointly venerated with another sacred tooth relic of the Gautama Buddha from the is­land of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). — ASH/ KNN
