A total of 15012 acres of maize has been reaped in Kyunhla Township of Sagaing Region in 2024-2025 monsoon season, according to statistics released by the Township Agriculture Department.
“In Kyunhla Township, corns are mainly grown in this year’s monsoon season. In addition, pigeon pea and other crops also grown in this season. Now, all the acreage has been harvested and the yield per acre is 48.69 tons,” said Daw Myint Yee, staff officer of the Township Agriculture Department.
In order to achieve high yield, the Township Department of Agriculture is making field trips and providing knowledge on agricultural techniques such as good quality seeds, systematic ways of planting, prevention of pest infestation and systematic use of natural fertilizers to farmers in the Township.
The Township has earmarked 14,995 acres of corns in 2024-2025 monsoon, but local farmers have only planted 15,012 acres of corns so far, according to Daw Myint Myint Yee, staff officer of the Township Agriculture Department.—Myo Win Nyo(Kyunhla)
