A total of 1,808,275 acres of paddy have been plant in 14 districts in Sagaing Region in this year’s monsoon paddy growing season and as of October, 14775 acres of rice have been harvested, according to the Region Agriculture Department.
Under the supervision and guidance of the Regional Department of Agriculture, officials from the District and Township Agriculture Departments are making field trips and providing agricultural techniques such as good quality seeds, systematic methods of planting and prevention of pest infestation to farmers in cooperation with relevant departments in the region.
In this year’s rain crops growing season, 1,808,275 acres of paddy have been cultivated since the first week of May this year, and as of now, 14,775 acres of rice have been harvested with an average yield of 63.72 percent per acre and 941408 baskets of rice were produced. Farmers in the region will continue to harvest the remaining acres of paddy till the end of January, 2025, according to the Township Agriculture Department.—District IPRD
