With the aim of increasing fish resources in Inle Lake, surrounding streams, and dams in Shan State, the 2025 Rainy Season Fish Planting Ceremony was held on July 16 at 9:00 a.m. in front of the Phaungtawpyan Pagoda in Nyaungshwe Township.

The event was attended by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, state ministers, members of the Maternal and Child Welfare Association, as well as officials from state, district, and township levels. Teachers, social organizations, and local residents also participated in the event.

As part of the ceremony, 200,000 fingerlings were released into the natural waters of Inle Lake. The fingerlings included 70,000 rohu, 70,000 swamp barbs, and 60,000 cyprinus, contributing to efforts to conserve biodiversity and ensure the long-term sustainability of local fish species.— State IPRD
