Various ways, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), are being implemented by Forest Department under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation to put down illegal logging and trading of forest products in collaboration with the people in the country.

The combined team seized a total of 22.08 tons of illegal timber, including 10.09 tons of teak, 1.20 tons of hardwood and 10.74 tons of other types of timber in the country from September 9 to 15 this year, according to the statistics sent by the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, State and Regional Forest Departments.

In addition, three culprits were arrested in connection with the cases along with seven vehicles and machines, according to the Forest Department.—MNA
