3 killed as hot air balloon collides with power line in Georgia

Three people were killed after a hot air balloon with passengers got caught on a power line near the village of Asureti in eastern Georgia, Russia's TASS news agency reported Wednesday.

All three passengers in the balloon died from electric shock and the area has been cordoned off, according to the agency, citing a Georgian TV channel.

The balloon took off on Wednesday morning from a stadium in Poti and was due to fly to Kakheti in the east of the country.

The hot air balloon was on a preparatory flight for setting a world record before the collision, Georgian local media reported.
