Kyaukse, 1 September

As part of efforts to boost domestic edible oil production, Kyaukse Township in Mandalay Region has planted a total of 300 acres of rain-fed peanuts for the 2025–2026 growing season.

The cultivation spans several villages across the township: 26 acres in Pankhwa Village in Administrative Unit 1, 26 acres in Kyaipya Village in Administrative Unit 1, 46 acres in Dandaing Village in Administrative Unit 2, 53 acres in Zarikhe Village in Administrative Unit 7, 130 acres in Ohnkyaw Village in Administrative Unit 7, 14 acres in Taungdaw Village in Administrative Unit 12, 5 acres in Kin Village in Administrative Unit 12.

Peanut varieties such as Ye Sin (11), Magway (11), and Magway (12)—all known for their resilience and disease resistance—have been selected for cultivation in the Township.

Officials from the Township Agriculture Department are actively supporting farmers by providing hands-on field training, covering everything from planting techniques to crop maintenance, to ensure healthy and productive peanut yields.— Thet Maung (Kyaukse)
