A work coordination meeting on taking census and compiling voter’s list for the 2020 multi-party general elections was held at the meeting room of the General Administration Department in Shwebo, Sagaing Region on 1 July.

Firstly, Deputy Commissioner U Ko Ko Aung and Chairperson of the district election sub-commission U Mya Aye delivered speeches. Then the Deputy Director of the Immigration and Population Department gave necessary guidance. Next, Assistant Director of the Union Election Commission U Aung Min Oo briefed matters relating to ensuring correct voter’s list and compiling basic voter’s list so that every eligible citizen can cast their vote. Those present also took part in the discussions.

A total of 738 polling stations are planned to be built in Shwebo District where more than 860,000 voters are expected to ballot, said the UEC official.—Moe Thauk (Shwebo)
