THE State flag-hoisting and saluting ceremonies of the 78th Anniversary of Independence Day took place at the People’s Square in Yangon yesterday.

 

The flag-hoisting platoon from Yangon Command raised the State Flag at 4:20 am togeth­er with the departmental officials and ethnic groups.

 

At 7 am, the flag saluting ceremony was organized and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein took the salute of the Guard of Honour. He then saluted the State Flag together with the Guard of Honour and attendees to the event.

 

The region chief minister, Guard of Honour and attendees also saluted the nation’s fallen leaders and soldiers and took the four-point oath.

 

The region chief minister read the message sent by the Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Chair­man of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Tha­doe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing to the 78th Anniversary of Independence Day ceremony.

 

The event was attended by Yangon Command Command­er Maj-Gen Pyae Sone Lin, Re­gional Chief Justice Daw Sandar Thwe, region cabinet members, the regional advocate-general, the regional auditor-general, senior Tatmadaw officers, na­tional people, students and in­vitees. — Ko Ko Zaw (MNA)/KZL
