A total of 79,000 acres of varieties of crops have been planted in this year’s rain crops planting season, exceeding the target in Kyunhla Township, Kanbalu District of Sagaing Region, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
"In this year's rainy season, 76,873 acres of varieties of crops have been targeted to plant, and so far, 79,630 acres have been grown in the Township,” said Daw Myint Myint Yee, staff officer of the Township Department of Agriculture. “We are discussing with the farmers to plant extra crops in the Township," she added.
The Township Department of Agriculture is making field trips and providing knowledge on agricultural techniques such as good quality seeds, systematic ways of planting and prevention of pest infestation to farmers in the Township.
A total of 79,000 acres of varieties of crops including 34,098 acres of paddy, 16,950 acres of pulses, 7319 acres of oilseed crops, 51 acres of sugarcane, 19,663 acres of other types of crops and 1549 acres of perennials has been cultivated this monsoon in the Township.—Myo Win Nyo(Kyunhla)
