THAILAND, as the host nation, has begun holding the XXXIII Southeast Asian Games. The Games, which run from 5 to 20 December, will feature competitions in 54 sports. Myanmar has prepared and trained in advance to compete in 38 of those sports, and it is confident that success will be achieved in the respective events.

Myanmar athletes have now begun competing with full training, strong confidence, and a determined will to win. Parents and supporters across the country, as well as Myanmar nationals from various regions, are already rallying behind the Myanmar teams, wishing them success. As the SEA Games is the highest-level sporting event among ASEAN countries, Myanmar’s sporting ability also shows strong potential compared to other nations in the region.

With the rising spirit of Myanmar athletes, the government’s increasing support for the sports sector, and the improved skills and quality of the athletes, efforts should continue with the goal of steadily advancing from the Southeast Asian Games to the Asian Games and eventually to the Olympic Games. Sports competitions are events that fairly demonstrate a nation’s and a people’s health, endurance, determination, courage, and collective efforts. With such noble intentions, athletes compete with the belief that their achievements will enhance both their personal success and the honour and prestige of their country and people.

The government has consistently honoured and awarded victorious athletes, and both the nation and its citizens have continuously taken pride in their sporting achievements. Recently, after winning the Asian Football U17 qualifiers, the Myanmar U17 men’s team was awarded a prize of K100 million by the Head of State. Athletes are fully aware that their efforts and dedication are supported and recognized by the government and the entire public.

Myanmar's selected athletes can perform at a higher level across more sports, which is expected to result in winning more gold, silver, and bronze medals and further enhance the prestige of the nation and its citizens. In particular, it is hoped that Myanmar’s men’s and women’s football teams, which are among the most prominent sports with ongoing successes, will help elevate the country’s sporting reputation.

At the ongoing XXXIII SEA Games, the participating Myanmar athletes are expected to win medals for the country while demonstrating their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship through tireless effort and competition. The nation’s people are hopeful that their achievements will enhance the prestige and honour of Myanmar.
