THE Ministry of Commerce’s Consumer Affairs Department will promote quality awareness among operators of e-commerce businesses and electronic services that receive more complaints from consumers and take further necessary actions.
The Consumer Affairs Department received over 285 cases in 2025, and consumers from Yangon and Mandalay filed the majority of the complaints. The department will check the complaints and launch an awareness campaign to promote consumer education and awareness of consumers’ rights. Necessary actions will be undertaken to ensure delivery of great service. Altogether, 566 inspection officials are assigned in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, regions and states under the Consumer Protection Law to monitor and inspect the market and tackle consumers’ complaints.
The department has been checking whether the businesses comply with labelling directives, including labels in the Myanmar language and other labelling requirements. The department conducted labelling inspections for 20,155 products between 2019 and 2025. — ASH/ KK
