Farmers in Chaungzon Township, Mon State, are preparing to cultivate 9,079 acres of summer paddy and various winter crops during the upcoming season to promote local edible oil self-sufficiency and increase household income, according to the Township Agricultural Production Development Team.

The planned cultivation includes 124 acres of summer paddy, 3,937 acres of sunflower, 106 acres of peanut, 25 acres of sesame, 3,720 acres of green gram, 1,450 acres of mung bean, 21 acres of cowpea, 75 acres of black pelun bean, 5 acres of soybean, and 20 acres of other beans.— Ko Kyaw (Chaungzon)
