As part of efforts to combat deforestation and encourage public participation in environmental conservation, a tree planting event for the 2025 rainy season was held on 4 September at 7:30 am along the roadside of the Muyitkyi–Zigon inter-village road.

The event was attended by Chief Minister of Mon State U Aung Kyi Thein, along with ministers from the Mon State Government, and officials from the state, district, and township levels.

To kick off the ceremony, Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein handed over saplings to representatives from the Muyitkyi Village Administration. The planting of the saplings then commenced at the designated locations. The Chief Minister and State Ministers observed the tree planting activities and encouraged residents and officials to take joint responsibility in nurturing and conserving the newly planted trees along the roadside.

A total of 1,262 saplings were planted during the event, including 850 manjashya, 100 pyinma, 100 seinpankyi, 100 kokkol, 100 yetama, 3 theingan, 3 khaye, 6 anan saplings.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from state, district, and township-level officials, village and ward administrators, members of the Women’s Affairs Federation, the Maternal and Child Welfare Association, social organizations, students, and local residents.— Ko Kyaw (Chaungzon)
