THE pre-match press conference for Group D of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers 2026 to be hosted by Myanmar was held on 5 August at the press conference hall of Thuwunna Football Stadium in Yangon.

Head coaches and team captains from Myanmar, India, Indonesia, and Turkmenistan attended the event.

Myanmar U20 Women’s National Team Head Coach Daw Thet Thet Win said, “I am thankful for the opportunity to continue leading the team. We are mentally preparing ourselves and our players in the best possible way to enter the tournament. I believe in my team’s ability to achieve strong results. I would also like to ask our fans to come and support us during the matches.”

Turkmenistan Head Coach Boris said, “This is our second time participating in a competition in Myanmar, so we are not unfamiliar with the country. Many players from our senior national team who played here before are now in our U-20 squad. I believe there is not much difference between Myanmar’s senior and youth teams in terms of playing style and physicality. As we have faced the senior team before, we are preparing to focus on defence and hope to achieve a good result.”

Indonesia Head Coach Higashiyama said, “Every team has a chance to win the qualifiers. We have already faced Myanmar during the previous ASEAN tournament, so we know their style. We will treat all our opponents with respect, but for now, we are fully focused on our opening match against India.”

India Head Coach Alexander Zain said, “We have spent nearly two months preparing for this tournament. We hope to succeed in the qualifiers, though we know it will be challenging. That is why we have done our best to prepare thoroughly.”
