A collective tree planting event was held on the morning of 30 June in Thongwa Township, Thanlyin District, Yangon Region, as part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental conservation, improve the local climate, and enhance the area’s natural beauty. The event was organized under the supervision of the Township Administration Body, and took place on a designated plot near West Village Village Tract.

To begin the event, U Ar Kar Win, the Township Forest Department officer in charge, formally handed over saplings to Major Lin Maung Thet, Acting Chairman of the Township Administration Body. Then, saplings were also distributed to the Chairperson of the Township Women’s Affairs Federation and other departmental officials.

A total of 507 saplings were planted during the event. These included: 500 Manjasha, Pyinkadoe, Mahogany and Khayee trees.

Participants in the tree planting included the Acting Chairman of the Township Administration Body, Major Lin Maung Thet, along with staff from the Township General Administration Department, members of the Women’s Affairs Federation, as well as local teachers and students.— Sithu Lin (IPRD)
