A landslide in northern Thailand has left 5 people dead and 4 missing.

Torrential rain triggered the mudslide in a village in Chiang Mai on Wednesday, destroying at least 7 homes and injuring more than 10 people. Local media reported some couldn't reach the hospital immediately due to blocked roads. A resident said, "I ran away. When I turned around, the house was gone."

Flash floods were also reported in other northern provinces, impacting over 1,600 households.

Typhoon Kajiki weakened into a low pressure system over northern Thailand. Despite its dissipation, meteorological agency officials urged locals to remain on alert.
