A total of 20 dance teams took part in the Don Dance Competition held to commem­orate the 70th Anniversary of Kayin State Day, and the awards ceremony took place in Hpa-an yesterday evening.

 

Kayin traditional don dance troupes first gave performances, after which Kay­in State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo, the Chief Justice of the State High Court, state ministers, and officials from the respective departments presented the winning teams with awards, cash prizes, and trophies.

 

The Myawady District Cultural Dance Troupe, which won the first prize in the Radanya song category, and the Shwe Kokkomyaing Cultural Dance Troupe, which received the all-round prize in the don dance, performed for the audience.

 

Afterwards, the 70th Kayin State Day celebrations continued with exhibitions, contests, fun activities, and sports events. The celebration also featured live music performances by nationally renowned singers He Lay, D Phyo, and Gay Gay, together with local Kayin ethnic singers, followed by the presentation of awards. — Saw Myo Min Thein (IPRD)/MKKS
