Drawing-lots event for 2026 World Cup Qualifiers of Myanmar to kick-start today

A drawing-lots ceremony for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers (Asian Zone) of team Myanmar and first and second round qualifiers for 2027 Asian Cup will be convened today according to the FIFA.

 

The Asian Football Confeder­ation will hold the first and second rounds of the Asian Zone 2026 World Cup qualifiers together with the 2027 Asian Cup quali­fiers, and only the third-round qualifiers will be held separately.

 

A total of 18 teams will partic­ipate in the first round of qualifi­ers, and the nine teams that win at both home and away stadiums will qualify for the second-round qualifiers. Team Myanmar will play from first round of qualifiers.

 

According to the sedan, My­anmar, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, Maldives, Yemen, Afghanistan, Singapore, Nepal and Cambo­dia are falling in the Pot 1 while Macao, Mongolia, Bhutan, Laos, Bangladesh, Brunei, Timor, Pa­kistan and North Mariana Island are placed in the Pot 2.

 

The 27 teams that have the opportunity to play directly in the second-round qualifiers and the nine teams that participated in the first round totalling 36 will be divided into nine groups of four teams.

 

The first round qualifiers will be held on 12 October while the second round will be on 17 Octo­ber. The next round of qualifying will be held from November 2023 to June 2024. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
