The Myanmar Police Force has seized a significant quantity of illegal drugs in two separate operations carried out in Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region and Kengtung Township, Shan State.

On 22 September at around 2:20 p.m., acting on a tip-off, a joint team from the Anti-Narcotics Squad stopped and searched a Probox vehicle. The vehicle, driven by Saw Win of Ward 107, Dagon Myothit (South) Township, and accompanied by Zaw Min Thu of Pathein Myay Ward, Dawbon Township, was found to be carrying 270,000 stimulant tablets. The estimated local value of the seized drugs is Ks 2.70 million.

In a separate operation on 23 September at approximately 6:15 p.m., another joint team from the Anti-Drug Squad intercepted a motorcycle near Kyaingphaung Village in Kengtung Township. The motorcycle, en route from Mong Pyin Township to Kengtung Township, was being driven by Ye Lin Htike of Panmat Village, accompanied by Kyala She of Panpyin Village, both from Tongta Township. Authorities seized 8,000 stimulant tablets, with an estimated local value of Ks 5.6 million.

All suspects are being prosecuted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.— MNA
