DEPUTY Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi inspected the operations of Khittayar Hintha Company Limited at the Pyay jute factory leased by the Department of Agriculture, on the afternoon of 13 September in Pyithaya Ward, Pyay, Bago Region.
The company is working with farmers through contract farming to distribute and sell certified rice seeds, operate seed sorting, run a showroom for agricultural machinery, trade rice and broken rice, and sell fertilizers. The deputy minister observed these operations and discussed requirements with those responsible.
At the Thayawady Township Department of Fisheries, he checked on the progress at the fish station, where freshwater fingerling species such as tilapia, rohu, silver barb, common carp, mrigal, grass carp, catla, and striped catfish are being distributed.
In the afternoon, he visited the Agriculture and Livestock Institute (Thayawady), where the principal explained ongoing studies on raising layers, breeding Myanmar pigs with commercial feed to compare growth rates, rearing goats with roughage and concentrate feed to compare growth, producing quality Thai rice seeds, and studying the growth of various vegetables.
The deputy minister stressed the importance of training students to have skilled human resources, to promote agricultural and livestock development and to increase production of quality goods. — MNA/KZL
