THE peace and stability of a nation are the most essential factors in its development. Therefore, the government is making continuous efforts across the entire country to maintain national peace and stability and uphold the rule of law. In this process, the government is working transparently and effectively together with relevant organizations and security forces to prevent and address situations that could disrupt national stability or hinder the rule of law.
Therefore, security forces in the region launched operations against armed terrorist groups, and on 5 October this year, they cleared and took control of the KK Park area near the Myanmar-Thailand border in Laykaekaw satellite town of Myawady. In the KK Park area, foreign nationals had been illegally entering through border routes and engaging in online scams, cyber fraud, and various unlawful online activities. There were about 150 buildings in that area, including residential houses, shops, restaurants, warehouses, hotels, gyms, KTVs, spas, hospitals, and sports facilities. Those buildings, which had been used for online scam operations and other illegal activities, have now been completely cleared and demolished by the authorities.
In addition, it is reported that armed terrorist groups in the area had set up illegal checkpoints along the banks of the Thaungyin River in Myawady Township of Kayin State to collect money to import and store legal goods. Recently, Tatmadaw has taken control of these areas and totally cleared the illegal border crossings and most of the outposts.
Unscrupulous traders import illegal goods and smuggled commodities through illegal channels of armed terrorist groups by paying money, but they do not import goods through the legally opened trade zones of the government. As such, the government loses a significant amount of revenue that should have been collected as tax income for the state treasury. The government has now taken decisive action to eliminate such activities that caused losses to state revenue. These measures aim to promote lawful trade and legitimate online businesses that support national development and the socioeconomic well-being of the people. To that end, the government, together with the relevant departments and security forces, is carrying out systematic security operations to completely eradicate these unlawful activities and restore the rule of law in the region.
All national ethnic groups have to cooperate and work together with the government, relevant departments, and responsible officials in these efforts to eliminate the illegal trade, gambling and different unlawful activities which can harm the socioeconomic life of the people and hamper the development of the State.
