IN commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Ministry of Energy and the 100th anniversary of Thanlyin Oil Refinery, the Energy Museum in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region, is now open from 10 am to 5 pm daily, except on Mondays, commencing on 24 December 2025.
The museum is visited by retired military officers, fire service personnel, residents of Thanlyin, university teachers and students, interested members of the public in Yangon and Thanlyin, retired employees of the Ministry of Energy, Thanlyin Refinery staff, and their families. Museum officials will provide explanations on the history of Myanmar’s energy sector to all visitors.
The Energy Museum is designed to present the history of Myanmar’s energy sector. The exhibition aims to highlight the sector’s past and inform its future, providing a comprehensive resource for future generations of students to learn about energy development in Myanmar.
The museum features exhibits spanning from the feudal era to the present day, including historical documents, models, equipment, oil and gas exploration and production processes, tools used in oil exploration and production, miniature models, offshore blocks, the Thanlyin Oil Refinery Centennial exhibition, factory miniatures, and exhibits related to the future of the energy sector.
