In an effort to improve the living conditions of low-income individuals, the Myawaddy District Branch of the Myanmar Rice Merchants Association distributed essential food items to needy people today at 9:00 a.m. at Sasanna Hitakari Temple, located within the historic Shwe Myin Wun Pagoda compound in Myawaddy Township, Karen State.

The donation event was organized with the participation of U Sein Thaung, Member 2 of the Myawaddy Township Management and Administration Committee, Township Administrator U Zaw Maw Aung, Deputy Director of the Township Development Committee U Kyaw Kyaw Oo, Staff Officer of the Department of Consumer Affairs U Myo Win Naing, along with ward administrators, local elders, and community leaders, led by U Than Naing, Chairman of the Myanmar Rice Merchants Association.

Under this food assistance program, 1,000 disadvantaged households across five wards in Myawaddy each received one 6-kilogram bag of rice and three packets of dried noodles. The total value of the distribution was estimated at Ks. 16.5 million.— Saung Hnin Phyu (IPRD)
