THE Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization (MMPO) announced on 31 December that it has released the list of male and female candidates who will compete in the final round of selection for Academy Award receptionists for the 2025 Myanmar Motion Pictures Academy Awards Ceremony, which will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, according to MMPO Vice-Chairman U Aye Kyu Lay.

“We have already conducted two rounds of selection, and the final round will be held soon. After the two stages, 58 candidates have been shortlisted. The list of these candidates has already been announced. This year, unlike last year, the number will not reach around 20 pairs. It is more likely that there will be only about 10 pairs, or possibly eight pairs,” said U Aye Kyu Lay.

Nearly 300 applicants applied for Academy Award attendant selection. Candidates who met the prescribed criteria were selected through successive stages. The preliminary round of selection was held on 21 December, followed by the second round on 29 December.

The judging panel for the final round will include Academy Award winners Khant Sit Thu, Yan Aung, May Than Nu and Soe Myat Thu Zar, as well as Academy Award-winning directors Nyunt Myanmar Nyi Nyi Aung and Maung Thi. — ASH/MKKS
