A fish restocking event was held at 8 a.m. this morning at Alandaing Port, near Panchan-2 in Shwe Kyet Yet Village Tract, Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region, as part of efforts to replenish fish stocks in the Irrawaddy River.
The ceremony was attended by U Tin Ko Lin, Chairman of the Amarapura District Management and Administration Committee, U Soe Nyunt Oo, Chairman of the Township Management and Administration Committee, committee members, departmental personnel, and staff from the Fisheries Department.
During the event, a total of 700,000 fingerlings were released into the river. This included 350,000 rohu fingerlings and 350,000 Thai swamp barb fingerlings, aimed at boosting the local fish population and supporting sustainable fisheries.— Soe Thiha (Amara)
