On March 17, the Magway Region Disaster Management Department and the Minbu District Disaster Management Department, under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, jointly provided Ks 41.83 million in aid to fire victims from 372 households in Monezale Village, Pwintbyu Township.
The event began with an opening speech by U Khaing Win Htun, Deputy Township Administrator of Pwintbyu Township General Administration Department. Following this, staff from the Disaster Management Department explained fire and natural disaster prevention measures, as well as details regarding the subsidies being provided.
Subsequently, the Deputy Township Administrator and other officials distributed a total of Ks 41.83 million: Ks 38.5 million for purchasing construction materials for 372 fire-affected households, Ks 3.04 million for purchasing rations for 1,445 fire victims, and Ks 300,000 for the family of a person who tragically died in the fire.
The fire, caused by negligence, broke out in Monezale Village on March 12. Of the 470 households in the village, 360 were destroyed, leaving 1,445 people from 372 households affected. In response, department officials have set up temporary shelters in three monasteries to accommodate the victims, providing essential support to ensure their comfort.— U Hlaing Win Lay
