THE first meeting of the Pres­ervation and Exhibition Com­mittee for the Bogyoke Aung San Museum (Yangon) was held on 6 December at the museum located on Bogyoke Aung San Museum Road in Bo Cho Ward 1, Yangon.

 

During the meeting, Vice- Chair and Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Daw Nu Mra Zan said that the Bogyoke Aung San Museum (Yangon) is under the National Museum (Yangon), and there­fore, personnel implementing the tasks will need to coordi­nate continuously with the Na­tional Museum (Yangon). She stated that once the Ministry of Construction completes all renovation tasks, the museum will reinstall the transferred exhibition items for display. She added that the committee must calculate and prepare the required special lighting and other necessary elements for the exhibition layout, and she urged all relevant departments to implement their responsibil­ities systematically in line with their respective guidelines.

 

The Yangon City Develop­ment Committee vice mayor, senior officials from the De­partment of Archaeology and National Museum, the Myan­mar Council of Architects, the Federation of Myanmar Engi­neering Society, experts from the task force-2 of the Ministry of Construction, officials from the Department of Information and Public Relations, the Na­tional Archives Department, the Central Equipment Statistic and Inspection Department, the National Library (Yangon) and the National Museum (Yangon) discussed sector-wise matters to support the preservation and exhibition work of the Bogyoke Aung San Museum (Yangon).

 

Afterwards, the deputy min­ister and the team inspected the ground floor, upper floor and lawn areas of the museum, which require renovation. They checked the rear lawn area and a section of ground that has sub­sided and instructed priority repairs. They also directed the replacement of only the dam­aged sections of the flooring, pillars, walls, window frames and roofs inside the building, together with other necessary arrangements. — MNA/KZL
