Mong Pyin, 7 August
A landslide occurred on the Mong Pyin–Mek Man Road in Mong Pyin Township, Kengtung District, Eastern Shan State, at around 8:00 a.m. on 7 August, following continuous rainfall since 5 August.
The landslide took place along the Mong Pyin–Mek Man Road, within the Mong Pyin Township section maintained by the Road Department of Kengtung District. It occurred between Yang Hai and Wanta Khet villages, with debris spanning approximately 70 feet in length, 30 feet in width, and 35 feet in height.
The affected section of the road has been temporarily closed to traffic. The Road Department is currently working to clear the debris as quickly as possible. The response team includes the Chief Officer (Urban), two Junior Engineers (Urban), ten road workers, along with heavy machinery including a loader and a mini excavator.
Fortunately, no injuries, vehicle damage, or damage to bridges have been reported.— Nan Thandar Oo (IPRD)
