A meeting between Kachin State government officials and hotel and lodge operators from Myitkyina was held at the Malikha Hall of the state government office on 3 November to discuss facilitating the operations of hotel and guesthouse businesses in Kachin State.

During the meeting, Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan emphasized that hotel, motel, and lodging business owners must adhere to the stipulated procedures and pay their taxes to the State. He noted that the licences issued to these businesses include a set of regulations and codes of conduct that the owners must follow. Furthermore, the Chief Minister urged business owners to strive for high-quality service and maintain a good reputation for their establishments. He assured the attendees that the state government and relevant departments would provide the necessary assistance. Additionally, he strongly encouraged everyone to actively participate in maintaining the township’s security and peace.

The meeting then continued with discussions on security measures, including the timely submission of accurate guest lists and the installation of CCTV systems at hotels and lodges. State officials emphasized the importance of cooperation and compliance with regulations. Hotel and lodging business owners raised questions about licensing procedures and collaboration.

In response to the presentations and discussions, the Chief Minister reiterated the importance of providing high-quality services during the peak tourist season. He also stressed the need for businesses to maintain clean and well-kept premises and to prioritize security through closer collaboration between government officials and business owners. — Kachin State IPRD/ TRKM
