HOTEL rooms in Bagan, Chaungtha, Ngwehsaung, Inlay, Taunggyi and Hpa-an are already fully booked for the upcoming Thadingyut long holidays, according to U Aung Moe Kyi, Vice-President of the Myanmar Tourism Federation.
He said, “Hotels in Bagan, Chaungtha, Ngwehsaung, Inlay, Taunggyi and Hpa-an are fully occupied due to the large number of domestic travellers expected during the Thadingyut public holidays. Since it is both the long holiday period and festival season, local travellers continue to visit these popular tourist destinations throughout the year.”
At present, these destinations are still receiving large numbers of domestic visitors, while the arrival of international tourists has declined compared with previous years.
However, this year, Bagan’s ancient cultural heritage sites are seeing not only many domestic tourists but also a notable number of international visitors. — ASH/KNN
