The Indian government says it will resume regular international flights after two years of suspension due to the coronavirus.

The government announced on Tuesday that regular flights to and from the country will restart on March 27. They were suspended in March 2020 amid the pandemic.

The government said the resumption is the result of an increase in the number of people who have been vaccinated across the globe.

India's infection situation has been relatively stable in recent days, with new cases on Tuesday standing at 3,933.

The government says it will continue requesting that arrivals from abroad submit a negative test result conducted within 72 hours before departure.

It also says it will keep carrying out coronavirus tests on randomly selected arrivals.
