THE management board of Myanmar Agro Exchange Public Co Ltd has announced that they will continue negotiations to receive insurance compensation for the fire that broke out inside the Danyingon Wholesale Market, as it is covered by fire insurance.
The fire occurred on 26 November in the complex No 3, which sells general merchandise, dry goods, and kitchen supplies, and affected seven shops, resulting in only minor losses. As all market complexes are covered by fire insurance, negotiations with the insurance company will continue to secure the compensation.
The Fire Services Department’s assessment indicates that the cause of the fire was a short circuit from a vendor’s inverter. The management board stated that they will increase fire hazard education to prevent such incidents in the future.
Currently, the remaining shops in the market building, excluding those damaged by the fire, have reopened as usual since 27 November. — MT/ZN
