IN any country, the abundance of natural resources alone cannot ensure development; safeguarding and nurturing human resources is equally, if not more, crucial. Without capable and well-prepared people, national progress is inevitably hindered. Across the world, nations are confronting the challenges of the modern technological era, striving to advance their development through innovation, knowledge, and human capital. Central to this effort is the comprehensive development of the younger generation, equipping them to excel and contribute effectively in diverse fields.

In Myanmar, enhancing the momentum of education has become a national priority. A comprehensive, nationwide education system has been established to develop human resources, improve overall knowledge and skills, and cultivate experts capable of contributing to production, industry, and the wider economy. This system ensures that education is accessible to all, providing opportunities for every student to reach their potential. Globally, when youth are given the chance to develop their skills and pursue their aspirations, they become a driving force for national progress. Conversely, neglecting the younger generation can lead to slowed growth, diminished stability, and, in extreme cases, a demographic crisis.

To address these challenges, Myanmar is preparing its youth to serve as a key source of national strength. Education aims to nurture well-rounded individuals, fully developed in five essential capacities: physical, mental, moral, emotional, and intellectual. Youth who achieve balance in these areas not only excel academically but also possess integrity and social awareness, allowing them to integrate effectively into society and become valuable human resources. A holistic education system is essential to equip young people for this role, ensuring that today’s youth are capable of shaping the future of the nation.

True personal development requires combining knowledge with practical skills. Knowledge alone, no matter how deep, cannot guarantee success, nor can skills alone. Only by integrating both can individuals reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to societal advancement. Engaging deeply with education at the appropriate age allows youth to secure their personal well-being while contributing to the country’s long-term development.

In Myanmar, special emphasis is placed on youth and education as closely intertwined priorities. Efforts are underway to prevent students from ending their studies at the middle school level by opening higher-level institutions in agriculture, livestock, industrial education, and polytechnic universities that integrate technology and computers. These institutions have already produced visible and positive outcomes. By developing individual abilities, young people will become capable men and women, forming the driving force for Myanmar’s sustainable development and future progress.
