Kanbalu, 15 October
Kanbalu Township in Sagaing Region plans to plant 97,137 acres of winter pulses and beans during the 2025–2026 crop season, according to U Myo Zaw, Chief of the Township Agriculture Department.
“Farmers have chosen pulse varieties that are both marketable and require less water. Pulses are the second most cultivated crop in the township after paddy, and surplus yields are exported to other regions and abroad,” he said.
To meet production targets, field staff will guide farmers on proper fertilizer use and agricultural techniques to ensure efficient and sustainable cultivation.
Planned crops include black gram (38,437 acres), green gram (22,500 acres), chickpeas (7,089 acres), peas (10,440 acres), and other legumes.— Aung Win Nyein (Kanbalu)
