The acreage of green gram has been harvested in Kyunhla Township, Kantbalu District, Sagaing Region, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.
In the township, a total of 5,416 acres of monsoon green gram were cultivated, exceeding the target of 5,412 acres. Now, all the cultivation areas have been harvested, yielding 17.34 baskets per acre. In addition, discussion is being made to implement double cropping and intercropping, according to an official from the Township Department of Agriculture.
With the aims at achieving target yielding, selecting high-quality seeds and good agricultural practices and preparing pets control measures, officials from the Township Department give agricultural awareness to the local farmers. As the farmlands in the township receive good rainfall and groundwater, various types of beans, oilseeds, kitchen crops, perennials and other crops including paddy are cultivated seasonally.
