Kyunhla Township in Kanbalu District, Sagaing Region, is actively cultivating various types of pulses during the 2025–2026 fiscal year. As of now, more than 5,000 acres of green gram have been successfully planted, according to the Kyunhla Township Agriculture Department.

For this rainy season, the township has designated a total of 16,953 acres for pulse cultivation, including 5,412 acres for green gram and 11,541 acres for pigeon pea. So far, 13,027 acres—approximately 76.84 percent of the total target—have already been planted.

“Kyunhla Township has allocated 5,412 acres for green gram cultivation this rainy season. Farmers began planting in early June, and to date, 5,012 acres—around 92.61 percent—have been planted. We are continuing efforts to meet the full target and are working closely with farmers to potentially exceed it,” said Daw Myint Myint Yee, head of the Township Agriculture Department.

The Agriculture Department has also provided field training to green gram farmers, offering guidance on selecting high-yielding seed varieties suitable for the local climate, as well as proper planting techniques.— Myo Win Nyo (Kyunhla)
