Kyunhla, 22 July

Kyunhla Township in Sagaing Region has completed the planting of over 5,800 acres of groundnuts (peanuts) this rainy season, according to the Township Agriculture Department. The Township is known for cultivating a variety of oilseed crops throughout the year.

“Kyunhla Township grows various oilseed crops during the summer, rainy, and winter seasons. For this rainy season, 7,314 acres have been designated for peanut cultivation, and so far, 5,835 acres have been successfully planted. Local farmers continue to expand cultivation each year to promote self-sufficiency in edible oil,” said Daw Myint Myint Yee, Head of the Township Agriculture Department.

To support this effort, the department is providing technical guidance to farmers. This includes training on the selection of quality seeds, proper soil and water management, correct planting techniques, pest control, and the use of natural fertilizers and pesticides.
