Kyunhla Township in Sagaing Region has successfully harvested 15,016 acres of rain-fed maize this year, producing a total yield of 731,580 baskets, according to the Township Agriculture Department.

“Local farmers in Kyunhla Township primarily cultivate maize. In addition to maize, they also grow beans and chickpeas. This season, all planted acreage has been fully harvested, with an average yield of 48.72 baskets per acre,” said Daw Myint Myint Yee, Head of the Township Agriculture Department.

To boost yields and support farmers, the department provided hands-on training and field education on selecting quality seeds, proper planting methods, pest control, effective harvesting techniques, and good agricultural practices.

The Township Agriculture Department reported that 14,995 acres were initially planned for maize cultivation during the 2025–2026 rainy season. Ultimately, 15,016 acres were successfully planted and harvested.— Myo Win Nyo (Kyunhla)
