Kyunhla, 3 September

Kyunhla Township has planned to grow 34,097 acres of rain-fed paddy this season, and as of now, a total of 34,099 acres have been successfully cultivated, exceeding the planting target.  Due to a proper rainfall, the rice fields are thriving and have sufficient water, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.

“In order to achieve the target yield, we are conducting field visits to educate farmers on good quality seeds that are suitable for the region, proper planting methods and use of fertilizers, pest control, and weed control,” said Daw Myint Myint Yee, head of the Kyunhla Township Agriculture Department.

Although the paddy fields in Kyunhla Township have received a proper rainfall, farmers are planting rice varieties that are suitable for the local climate, such as Ayya Min, Manaw Thu Kha, Shwe Thwe Yin, Chan Myay May, and Aung Naing Toe.—Myo Win Nyo(Kyunhla)
