Kyunhla, 8 October
Kyunhla Township in Sagaing Region has successfully cultivated 34,099 acres of rain-fed paddy this year, exceeding its original target.
To ensure the success of rain-fed rice cultivation and achieve optimal yields, the Township Agriculture Department has been actively providing farmers with hands-on training and technical guidance. This includes education on selecting high-quality and climate-appropriate rice varieties, proper planting techniques, pest management, and the balanced use of both natural and chemical fertilizers. The department has also organized training courses and seminars on modern cultivation methods.
Originally, the township planned to cultivate 34,097 acres of rain-fed rice. However, the current cultivation has reached 34,099 acres, slightly surpassing the target.
Popular varieties grown this season in Kyunhla Township include Ayeyarmin, Manawthukha, Shwethweyin, Chanmyetmye, and Aungnaingtoe, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.— Myo Win Nyo (Kyunhla)
