Around October and November, when the rice harvest season begins, the Kachin people traditionally celebrate the harvest feast and the new harvest welcome ceremony annually across Kachin State in accordance with cultural customs and traditions.

 

ACCORDING to the Kachin State Gov­ernment Office, the Kachin Traditional Harvest Feast and Cultural Exchange Event will be held vibrantly on 15 and 16 Novem­ber at the Majwe Hall of Manau Ground in Sitapu Ward in Myit­kyina, Kachin State.

 

The event will be attended by Kachin ethnic nationals from various parts of the state, other ethnic communities, and local residents.

 

“Around October and No­vember, when the rice harvest season begins, the Kachin people traditionally celebrate the harvest feast and the new harvest welcome ceremony annually across Kachin State in accordance with cultural customs and traditions.

 

“In addition, a traditional cultural performance will be staged at Myitkyina University, featuring songs and dances that showcase and exchange the cultural heritage and traditions of six Kachin tribes, five Shan tribes, as well as Bamar, Kayin, and Rakhine ethnic groups,” said an official from the Kachin State Government Office.

 

The Kachin Traditional Harvest Feast and Cultural Exchange Event is organized with the aim of strengthening unity and solidarity among eth­nic groups residing in Kachin State and promoting a peace­ful and harmonious society. — ASH/KNN
