THE Mahamuni Buddha Image in Mandalay hosted the opening ceremony for the 36th annual Matho Thingan robe weaving event on the morning of 3 November.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, the commander of Central Command, the chief justice of the Mandalay Region High Court, regional ministers, Chairman of the board of trustees of the Mahamuni Buddha Image U Mya Win, members, and invitees.
The chief minister, the commander and officials cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the ceremony.
Afterwards, the chief minister and officials watched the step-by-step weaving for the Mahamuni Buddha Image and warmly greeted the weavers, tailors, and volunteers. They also said that the robe would be woven overnight and offered to the Mahamuni Buddha Image on the morning of the full moon day of Tazaungmone (today). — MNA/MKKS
