Fifteen loom crews weaving Matho robes from lotus yarns drew large crowds of monks, pilgrims, and visi­tors to the fountain square of the Maravi­jaya Buddha Park in Nay Pyi Taw.

A ceremony to commence the weaving of Matho golden lo­tus robes for the Tazaungdine festival 2025 at the Maravijaya Buddha Image took place at the fountain square of the Maravijaya Buddha Park yesterday evening, graced by the pres­ence of Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.

 

On arrival at the venue of the cer­emony, the Senior General and his wife were warmly welcomed by officials, eth­nic groups from the Myanma Radio and Television, and cultural troupes from the Department of Fine Arts under the Min­istry of Religious Affairs and Culture.

 

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin read the mes­sage of “Jaya Mangala”.

 

The Senior General and his wife cut the ribbon to commence the weaving of Matho golden lotus robes for the Tazaung­dine festival 2025 at the Maravijaya Bud­dha Image.

As a member of the Maravijaya Bud­dha Image Board of Trustees, U Thant Swe launched the activities by beating the Mingala golden gong, and weaving teams started their weaving efforts. Meanwhile, artistes from the MRTV, cultural troupes from the Department of Fine Arts un­der the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and artistes from the Myawady Entertainment Troupe under the Directo­rate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare performed the song “Myaing-Myaing-Hsaing-Hsaing Latazaungdine” with dances. Attendees to the ceremony released small hot-air balloons and lan­terns simultaneously.

 

Moreover, those artistes entertained audiences with traditional choral danc­es, Ozi and Dobat music and songs.

 

The Senior General and his wife, together with the audience, interestingly observed the weaving process of Matho golden lotus robes at 15 looms.

 

The Senior General, his wife and attendees watched the release of night hot-air balloons and Seinnapan hot-air balloons together with pilgrims and peo­ple who visited the Tazaungdine light­ing festival at the Maravijaya Buddha Image.

 

Also, present at the ceremony to­gether with the Senior General and his wife were Commission Vice-Chairman Vice-Senior General Soe Win and his wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Commission member and Prime Minister U Nyo Saw and his wife, Commission member and Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe and his wife, Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo and his wife, commission members and their wives, Union-level dignitaries, Union ministers and their wives, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, senior Tatmad­aw officers from the Office of the Com­mander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and officials, and weaving teams which will participate in the weaving of Mathoe golden lotus robes. These activities were crowded by pilgrims, monks and people.

 

The Tazaungdine lighting festival will be held on a grand scale at the Mar­avijaya Buddha Image Park in Dekkhi­nathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory from 2 to 4 November. During the festival, associations will recite re­ligious verses and offer 9,000 oil lights on the platform of the Image, while fire­works will be launched and night hot-air balloons and Seinnapan hot-air balloons released, dedicated to Lord Buddha. Moreover, the weaving of Matho golden lotus robes is carried out to offer them to the Buddha Image.

 

In the precinct of Buddha Park, all structures are illuminated with LED lights. Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) display and sell domestic products, foodstuffs, personal goods and Myanmar traditional snacks at relevant stalls.
